Journey through the Chakra System

You may have heard the word "Chakra", but what is exactly is it, what are they?

There are seven major Chakras that are located along our spine, and are the most referred to and referenced Chakras in western philosophy. There are also many minor Chakras in the body, but these ones you probably won't hear about as often.

Each of the Charkas are governed by principles of consciousness that we can use to cultivate greater harmony, happiness and wellbeing as we journey through life. A Chakra can be described as a whirling vortex of energy, and just like a vortex, these whirling energy centres can spin too fast causing an excess in the Chakra, or too slow causing them to be under active, both the excess and under active Chakra will have an impact on our daily life, mentally, physically and/or emotionally.

I have always found it amazing that ancient systems can have so much impact and importance in todays world. The Chakra system originated in India, with their first mention in the Vedas, an ancient text dating back to 1500-1000 BC. The location of the 7 major Chakra centres are associated with plexus' in the body. A plexus is a bundle of nerves that runs along the spine, which the ancients would have no physical knowledge of.

Physical issues that may arise from blocked Chakras can be things like low back pain, digestion issues, weight issues. Chakras also relate to our emotional well being, and blocked Chakras can show up as feelings of insecurity or our feelings of self-worth.

I have created a self-paced online course for you to take a beginners journey and explore your Chakra system. This course will help you to connect to your chakras, decide if they are over or under active, and provide activities and exercises to bring them into balance. It is designed to be taken over an 8 week period. Each week you will be given information about the specific chakra we are working on, journaling prompts and a specific yoga practice for the energy centre, these yoga practices will be shorter in length so that you can truly embody the experience.

As the Chakra system is something that can be studied continuously, you will always have access to this course. You can take it at your own pace, and return to it for years to come, perhaps incorporating a yearly journey.

I hope that you come along as we journey together through the Chakras together.

Hi Chris, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have added an m4a to the section of the same yoga Nidra. Can you let me know if you can access that one?
