Mindfulness can be defined as "the practice of being deliberately aware from moment to moment of one’s conscious experience. It is the state of tuning in to the stream of consciousness as it flows and staying in the present moment with this awareness."
Being mindful and in the present moment is easily obtained "in the present moment", but our minds can quickly switch from the initial awareness to weaving a story and possibly judgement around the initial awareness, loosing the connection to the present moment. The art of Mindfulness is a skill that can be acquired with time and practice.
Mindfulness creates clarity of body, mind and soul. Bringing awareness to your body and how it moves in a yoga class can have an immediate affect on your mental and emotional well being. This awareness creates a body, mind connection that is something that is so powerful and essential to our lives, and once experienced, not easily forgotten.
