When I put down my yoga mat and I step onto it, I immediately feel the worries of the world disappearing. It is my safe space, where I can find refuge when needed, which seems to be more often than not in 2020.
I don't always "practice" when I pull out my mat. Often I will put the mat down outside and just lay on it. I will connect to my breath and to nature around me. Afterall, the word YOGA is a sanskrit word that translates into "yoke" or union. On my mat I find union in my body, mind and soul, whether I am doing a physical asana practice or a meditative practice.
The world can be a crazy place, especially this year, but the solitude on my mat helps to brings some peace to this crazy world we live in.
Yoga can happen in many forms. Today, this is my yoga.
