Your very own Chakra System

Writer's picture: Kathy Brown Kathy Brown

The Chakra System I have always been interested in the Chakra system (pronounced "ch" – as in "church"), but it was during my Yoga Teacher Training that I developed a deeper meaningful relationship with my own personal Chakras.

Chakras are centers of energy located in and around our body. It is a Sanskrit word that literally means “wheel”. The seven most common Chakras start at the base of our spine and continue up to the crown of our head. Each chakra has its own vibrational frequency, that is depicted through a specific chakra color, sound and mantra. Each one governs specific functions that help to regulate organ function, the immune system and our emotions, as well as many other things.

My own personal work consisted of a seven week journey, where I took one Chakra, starting from the base up, and examined it in detail for the week. I would incorporate different meditations, yoga poses, chants and visualization techniques directly related to the specific Chakra. These tended to change from week to week, but the one part that remained constant was the journaling.

Every day I would journal about my feelings, thoughts and interpretations of my Chakra. The journey was life changing, it brought so much love and awareness to the various aspects of my life and myself that it was a true gift.

I am honoured to use these teachings as a reference point for teaching the Chakra System to others.
